Friday Questions

Friday! That day of the week when whatever you write on your blog…fewer people will read it. Do you all get to leave work early on Fridays or are busy will having a “real” life?

This morning I have a host of topics dancing around in my head. I think that may even be worse than having nothing to say. I think I will just go with questions.

  1. Do you have “triggers” that make you vulnerable to a spiritual weakness (OK sin)?
  2. Do you think you look and act your age?
  3. Do you HATE to admit your age?
  4. Why is it so hard to transfer ideals to action?
  5. Are there any people in your life who you would consider a stumbling block? (See Tuesday’s post)
  6. Why can’t I love people like my dog loves me?
  7. Why do we “let” Christmas turn into a frenzied time of commercial hype and increased debt?
  8. Why do my bangs grow faster than the rest of my hair?
  9. Why do my muscles I work so hard for hide under layers of FAT?
  10. Do people think “those people are just like Jesus” when they think of your church?

Pick and choose questions to answer, skip it altogether, or answer them all: it is your choice! Just a little sample of what is rolling around in my head…..Happy Friday!

Comments:
1. Yes, you would think I would be smart enough to stay away from those things.

2. I try not to look or act my age
3. I don't know why but it KILLS me!
4. I have so many wonderful ideals... I wish I knew how to make them happen
5. yep
6. I don't know- I have a whole post about that (if I can ever my internet connection to work at home!)
7. I am trying to change that.
8. arghhhh!!
9. I don't know, but that is the main reason I want to lose more weight!! Is that vanity?
10. I am afraid to answer that.

1. Doesn't everyone?
2. No, someone told me just the other day that I don't look my age. As far as acting...well, maybe I do.
3. No - just a number - but ask me that in a couple of years...
4. I struggle with this one too - I'm okay with coming up with things, but actually making them happen - not so much.
5. Yes. 'Nuff said.
6. Because dogs don't have the memory that we do. We remember all the bad stuff - the niggling little annoyances, the hurt feelings, the attitude - whereas dogs don't! You can say anything to a dog, and as long as it's in the right tone - he's thrilled.
7. Because it's tradition?
8. I know! Why is that?!
9. Muscles...?
10. Doubtful - just ask DH

only time for a few (no time for deep thoughts rattling in my brain right now)

2 - I think I look younger and act older (at least that is what I've been told)
3 - nope, kinda like to shoot people's wheels off when they figure out how old I am!
9 - I don't work hard enough for any muscle - just lots of jiggly fat. althought I did start a new exercise program last night - we'll see if I can keep it up!!

As for your question about leaving early on Friday, nope generally a normal day. Except that today is our annual Corporate Christmas Lunch and we'll get an "early release" day!

1. Yes
2. Nope
3. Nope
4. Life
5. Me, Myself & I
6. I can but they won't let me lick there face.
7. Uh, We shouldn't but have you seen whos face is on our coins. Ceasars
8. Not faster then the hair in my ear that I keep neatley trimmed.
9. I am not going to answer this one.
10. Like any church it depends on what circle they run in. But it's getting better all the time.

1. Triggers, yes, but I broke them off.
2. I look younger and never want to act my age.
3. No I am 49, for the first time.
4. No, I broke them off too.
5. Trying daily to love as my dog does...unconditionally. But people act funny when you lick them on the face.
6. Not this year...no more debt and no money to buy too much, which is a blessing.
7. Your bangs grow faster? The back of my hair does, and I struggle not to sport a mullet!
8. Fat is good, esp. when it is so cold, I refer to it as being fluffy.
9. I sure hope so and I can only be Christ to others. My church amazes me at what they do for others.

1. Yes we have several stuffed ones and a few Pooh Bears too. OH triggers.
2& 3. I have to always stop and calculate my age... so I don't know.
4. wow... that's a question.
5. sure if I chose to see them that way
6. I don't know how your dog loves you, but you seem to do a pretty good job. I can expound on this if you make me.
7. we like getting stuff ourselves in the hopethat it will make us happy.
8. fertilizer?
9. Well for men donna, too lean is not really attractive, intrestingly most guys don't really find Paris attractive, she has no fat, the only attraction is her sleazyness. As for you and your FAT I don't know, as for me, I don't work it hard enough.
10. well I think I have already gone on the record on this one.

1. Oh, yes. . . .
2. I neither look nor act my age a lot of the time. If I shave the beard off I look much younger, especially with the shaved head look. I doubt if I've ever acted my age perfectly as an adult--I'm either in too juvenile or too elderly a mood!
3. Heavens no--age is just a number, as my Dad sagely taught me. He's happily enjoying his third childhood; I'm in my second.
4. Talk is cheap. As a Communication professor I certainly know that one!
5. No, just my attitude toward them (and really only a couple of people, like my ex-wife).
6. Dog's aren't self-conscious like we are. I mean, when was the last time you relieved yourself in public. (Smile, folks.)
7. Since I teach public relations, I'll blame the folks in advertising and marketing!
8. Why do men's recede faster than any other hair on our bodies?
9. It's because we work our eating muscles more than any other part of our body--even when we're just talking about needing to do more exercise and go on a diet.
10. There are a few--but not many. But that's the case with most of us Christians. We're works in progress. Unfortunately, the world doesn't understand that. As Gandhi said, the only thing that kept him from believing in Christianity was the way Christians act.

10. What if we just gave everybody at our churches some slack? What if we said "Are those people TRYING to be like Jesus as best as they know how?" We won't be Jesus, but we can be fellow broken souls for each other, on the journey together to become MORE like Him.
I really don't want to be too judgemental of my brethren anymore....you don't know WHAT people are going through sometimes. We just need to love them. Yeah....I'm a hippie for Christ! :)

You have quite a lot bouncing around in your head today!

Acting my age-I have always been attracted to people who think of themselves as young at heart. I will always strive to do the same!

Christmas- Such a magical time. Magical memories. It is easy to get caught up in buying and buying because I want to make it magical for my family. I have to remind myself that the magic lies not in the gifts but in the experiences. Great reminder as I head to Dallas to go shopping tomorrow! ;)

1. Loneliness, criticism
2. Look yes, act no -- I am very much a kid at heart and I am all about play
3. No - 46. So what?
4. Change is hard. Habits are strong. Motivation is weak.
5. My -ex
6. I would get arrested for that kind of conduct! You can't just go around licking people and rubbing up against them demanding to be petted. It just isn't right.
7. Peer pressure and selfishness.
8. Haven't a clue.
9. Genetic - don't blame yourself!
10. Sorry, I have to go with the No on that one.

Good questions. Thanks for making me think.
