Nursery Rhymes

Dallas Willard reminded me of a nursery rhyme this morning.

Pussy cat, pussy cat
Where have you been?
I have been to London
To see the Queen.

Pussy cat, pussy cat
What did you see there?
I saw a little mouse
Under her chair.

So what do we see? The one on the throne or the trivial things going on underneath?

Comments:
Wow, great point...who would have thought there could be such wisdom in a nursery rhyme? Thanks for sharing--I definitely need to focus more on the One on the throne rather than on what's going on down below.

This is a rhyme from 1 of my daughter's books:

I had a little nut tree
Nothing would it bear
But a silver nutmeg
And a golden pear.

The King of Spain's daughter
Came to visit me,
And all for the sake
Of my little nut tree.

OK - If I take my mind OUT of the gutter, I remember that we are supposed to 'bear much fruit'. However, I see this tree as being me & those 2 precious fruits are my kids. The problem is that I dwell on the emptiness of the tree as opposed to the specialness of it (which draws royalty to it.)

Very insightful!

Pretty cool, Donna. : )

The one I see depends on my mood.

Sexy avatar, by the way.

Great reminder! We must refuse the temptation to engage in minutiae management and choose to follow Jesus to a higher plane. Blessings to you and yours, -bill
