Bloggers R Us

I’ve been thinking (these are words that send my husband into panic mode). I wonder how many things I have experienced or how many people I have met because of blogging.

Last night I was having a belated birthday dinner with my real life friend and fellow-blogger Terri. (thanks Terri it was great!) It amazes me how many times our conversation will turn to those of you we have met through this crazy little thing called “blogging”.

I know we would have never heard of or attended the Zoe Conference had it not been for blogging. I would not have known anyone personally and would not have made the trip to Pascagoula, MS last year after hurricane Katrina visited. I don’t think I would have ever journeyed to Memphis for a Third Day concert (I would have waited for them to come to Birmingham) and I am sure I would not have had communion by the river there.

Many of you I now consider some of my closest friends, but had it not been for blogging I would never have known you at all. There are so many people I would have never met, and many more of you I am anticipating meeting…..

Tell me some things you have done directly as a result of blogging….

Comments:
If it wasn't for blogging, I wouldn't know that you (and many others) exist. And though we've never "met" (face-to-face), I consider you a friend.

If it wasn't for blogging, I wouldn't have been blessed and challenged by the writings of so many diverse people from all over the world.

Yeah..... Blogging is a good thing!

Hmmm ... don't think that I have visited anyplace (outside of bloggerville) because of blogging.

How did you find out about those opportunities and places to visit via blogging?

i would've never heard of you, or seen you. i first saw your smiling face on ... jd's blog! when you went down to help with the katrina klean-up.

i would've never heard that i missed the first stream in franklin, tn, without reading it on jd's blog.

i have gotten in contact with fellow fantasy footballers, and baseballers because of blogging. greg kindell-ball(?) let me play in his fantasy baseball league, and jd (there he is again) has let me play in his football league.

i have read some of my great friend from texas' thoughts (cousin elvis link on my blog).

there are so many cool things that i have learned from the blogosphere.

i have to got to church now. more later ... i hope! thanks for the visits donna!!

My funniest story is when I was ranting about the judge in Bryon's case not letting him continue the trial going on right before my brother's wedding, and the judge's court reporter read my blog and told the judge!

I have met total strangers in restaurants who knew me by my profile picture.

I have enjoyed reading your blog for almost two years now! Maybe one day we will meet when I come to Alabama?

I met Jetty betty at a Zoe Conference, and Thomas came to memphis with his wife to participate in a political gathering. Very cool!

For two years blogging was a big part of my life...now not so much. New baby, kids getting older and more active, computer getting too old to keep up... But at least once a week I find myself seeking you, Terri, Jetty Betty, Traci, Elizabeth and Deana out. I still read Mike Copes blog every other day or so... It's an escape for me. A journey to adult world. I'm not the blogger I once was, but I'm still around...even if I never post or comment! And your blog always blesses me or gets me thinking! And those grand babies are all so cute! Love that picture below!

i forgot to mention that BST has come to my blog and made mention that he (world renown leader of the zoe group) liked my blog, and said that he would like to hang out with me if i ever get to nashvegas! go figure?!?! he would like to hang with me?

there are other cool things, but now i have to head off to work. last night it was off to church, which was one of the best night yet in the singing class!

read you later!

Meeting all of you has been a huge blessing. I really do consider this blog church. Being able to share prayer requests and knowing full well that they will be honored has been a blessing beyond words. God wants us to fellowship with our Christian brothers and sisters and it seems in today's techno land, blogging is just one way to do that. Through blogging we share our journey. We share our ups and downs. We share our "funnies" and "sads". But we share. We learn and we love. I think it's a reason for praise to the King of all, including blogging!

I have met several other bloggers. I would say it had a pretty major impact on my life this year.

Even though I am fairly sporadic lately about blogging, I feel like I have gotten to know you and Terri far better from blogs than I ever would have in the minimal time we see each other at church. Would that more of our church bretheren blogged, so I could get to know them better too. Thanks for being my blogger friend, Donna. : )
