Merger...

Most of the time I am ambivalent about mergers...however, this time I am a little excited.

It seems that XM radio and Sirius are going to merge. This means I could get my NASCAR radio back! That would be great!

My current dilemna is this....I really want the Direct TV NASCAR package, currently we have Dish Network....they have The Tennis Channel and Direct TV does not.....what is a girl to do??

Comments:
Not so fast on the merger, I don't know if the ftc will allow it. They have to look it over and see how much the merger will have to charge us (you know it will be more than 12.95). I do hope they merge as I miss nascar radio also. I bought the direct tv nascar package and forgot to watch it last sunday.

Dish Network is the only way to go.

You really pay for radio?

I haven't even looked to see if the merger with Sirius will mean more stations I want... I tend to keep it on 32 (The Message), with occasional jaunts to the 80s channel, 23, or 25.

And as far as paying for radio, in our part of CA, we can't keep a good signal to KLOVE; so the satellite radio gets us the reception we need. It was so cool to make the move out here from NE and drive through the middle of nowhere, all the while never having to hunt for a radio station.

At the risk of offending TCS, which is not my intention, I just dumped DISH after almost 4 years and went w/ DirecTv. For three months DISH service has been non-existent and the "repair" crew just made it all worse. I've spend hours on the phone with DISH tech people, several of which were morons and their advice had to be straightened out by the next tech person. And some of them just flat out didn't care and it showed in their attitudes. I saw some software the other day that allows one to receive over 3,000 channels from all over the world for free. If you have internet (even dial up), you can get television channels (everything offered by DISH and DirecTv) along with the ability to record, stop, pause, rewind, and fast forward, just like the DVR. It has a 30-day period to try it out before they charge your credit card and is returnable after that with full refund! Sounds too good to be true. I wonder if it is??? Though my response has been of absolutely no value to your dilemma, it did increase your number of responses and that's always a good thing.

I am a sports nut. I mean real sports, not NASCAR (just had to say it). DirecTV is awesome!

I also have XM in my car.

DirecTV allows me to watch (for a fee) all of the Dallas Cowboys games and XM allows me to listen to my choice of music.

In this part of the country, Bears games are broadcast locally and the radio stations play either pop or country music. I'm not a fan of any of these, so it's worth the extra money to have a choice.

I have no problem paying for what I love as opposed to being stuck with what someone else thinks I want to be entertained with.
