All in a Day
I hope you are all planning to do something special with your sweethearts today. Somehow I don’t think it will be meaningful for me to tell you happy Valentines Day….unless of course you are my Valentine….so I won’t.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday told a life’s story. Yes one little day on the calendar covered the substance of the things that life is made of.
- My dear friend Sharon welcomed her second grand-daughter into the world. Yes this is the same Sharon who we had a Grandma shower for last December. Her granddaughters are 14 months apart. Life is going to be exciting in her son’s house. It is so wonderful to share in new life beginning.
- We saw all of our babies’ hearts beating strongly yesterday. They are growing and we are getting more and more excited, especially as the nursery is beginning to come together. Diana says she cries sometimes when she walks in the room and sees three beds and all of the clothes. She is not sure if it is from excitement or fear. She says she feels like she is 15 years old, how can she be having three kids?
- Yesterday was my father-in-laws birthday. He has been gone for 9 years from this earth. He was one of the hardest working men I have ever known. He loved his family but expected all of them to be able and willing to work hard. I remember shortly after we got married he was impressed because I was good at picking up potatoes. He was always crazy about my children. I wish he could have met their children. He would have loved them too. I miss him.
- Last night my dad’s only remaining sibling passed away. My Aunt Violet has been in the nursing home for the last 10 plus years. Alzheimer’s robbed her of her thinking ability long ago. My aunt always laughed loud and enjoyed life. It was tragic to watch her separate from that vibrant personality and yet to have to exist in a worn out body. My Mom & my Dad were the youngest in their families. I know it is hard for my Dad to realize he is the only one left.
I pray that God will take me home when I can no longer be useful with my mind. The joy, the loving, the sorrow and the anticipation we feel punctuates how truly alive we are. God help me make my life count…..for you.

Donna this is good stuff thanks. I don't know if you could ever fail to be useful for God. Maybe someday you finish the work he gave to you and you will "go out like Elijah"
I kind of wish we still had our cemetaries in the church yard becuase it would be a reminder to us of the cycle of life and death.
Hope you & David had a great Valentines Day. Your day sounds like it was full of wonder and awe. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, friend!
